Why Core Work Matters—For Everyone

Let’s talk about something that shows up in every single one of my workouts—core training. Whether you’re a beginner just getting started, a senior working on stability, or someone pushing for performance, core work is always part of the plan when you train with me. Why? Because it’s that important.

The Core Is More Than Abs

When most people hear "core," they think six-pack abs. But your core is so much more than that. It includes the muscles in your abdomen, lower back, hips, and even your glutes. These muscles work together to stabilize your body, protect your spine, and support just about every movement you make—from getting out of bed in the morning to carrying groceries or lifting weights in the gym.

Training your core isn’t about vanity—it’s about function. A strong core helps prevent injuries, improves posture, and can significantly reduce or even eliminate back pain. It’s your body’s powerhouse, your center of gravity, and the foundation for strength and movement at every age.

Core Work for Every Age and Ability

The beauty of core training is that it can be adapted for everyone. You don’t need to do crunches or crazy moves to strengthen your core effectively. There are countless ways to target your core that are safe, fun, and accessible—whether you’re in your teens or celebrating your 90th birthday.

In my classes and personal training sessions, I use a variety of core exercises that meet you where you are. We use breathwork, balance movements, functional exercises, and classic core techniques—all tailored to your ability level. Whether you’re standing, seated, on the floor, or using a wall for support, you will feel your core working.

And yes… you might feel the burn.

Core Work Isn’t Easy—But It’s Worth It

Let’s be honest—core work isn’t usually anyone’s favorite part of the workout. It’s tough. It requires control, breath, and engagement. But that challenge is what makes it so effective.

And while core strength is built in the gym, I’d be lying if I didn’t mention this truth: abs are made in the kitchen. What you eat matters just as much—if not more—than how you train. Nutrition and movement go hand in hand, and if you’re working toward visible abs or a stronger core, both pieces need to be in place.

But even if abs never show on the outside, your core is working hard for you every single day. The strength you build there spills over into every area of your life—helping you move better, feel better, and live stronger.

Let’s Strengthen from the Center Out

No matter your age or fitness level, core work will always be part of your journey with me. It’s a non-negotiable piece of the puzzle—and one I make sure to include in every class, every training session, and every plan I create.

Because when you build from the center out, you’re building a body that moves with strength, confidence, and purpose.
